Chapter I

As it Began

In which Alice discovers a whole new world

 

Alice falls asleep in bed while reminiscing after a lovely day.  She follows the kitten under the bed covers and finds herself in a strange world that she doesn’t recognise.  After searching in vain she eventually attracts the kitten’s attention and the two are reunited. 

 

 

Chapter II

Conversation with a Cat

In which Alice learns the art of being a cat

 

Alice begs the kitten to teach her how to be a cat and the kitten finally agrees.  Alice is given a series of tasks to complete as part of her feline education and she reluctantly comes to the conclusion that she isn’t cut out to be a cat. 

 

 

Chapter III

Rabbit in a Stew

In which Alice befriends the Welsh Rabbit

 

Alice finds herself in a wood where she meets the Welsh Rabbit.  The two of them ponder the reality of life and dreams before the Rabbit invites Alice back to his house.  Once there, they conclude that they are part of someone else’s dream and the frightened Rabbit sends Alice off to seek help from the Queen. 

 

 

Chapter IV

In Time for Tea

In which Alice takes tea with The Rat and the Jugged Hare

 

On her way to meet the Queen, Alice comes across a loquacious rat with who she shares tea.  The Rat challenges Alice’s perception of reality and leaves Alice feeling quite baffled by the whole experience. 

 

 

Chapter V

Training 

In which Alice takes a strange train journey

 

Leaving The Rat, Alice arrives at a railway station and tries to purchase a ticket.  She loses her purse and then finds it again, just in time to catch the train in the hope that it will take her to the Queen’s palace.  The train journey has some rather unexpected consequences and Alice is left wondering whether she made the right choice. 

 

 

Chapter VI

A Royal Audience

In which Alice meets with the King and Queen

 

Alice arrives at the royal palace where she is greeted by a dashing knight.  The knight takes Alice to see the King and Queen.  The Queen is sure that she has seen Alice somewhere before.  Alice spends some time with the King and Queen while she is tested for her suitability as a lady-in-waiting. 

 

 

Chapter VII

Affairs of State

In which Alice becomes Prime Minister

 

The Queen persuades the King to appoint Alice as his new Prime Minister.  Alice reluctantly applies for the job and she secures unanimous approval from the voters.  Her ideas meet with mixed support from the King and Queen and Alice inadvertently places the country’s entire economic prosperity in jeopardy. 

 

 

Chapter VIII

Houses of Parliament

In which Alice is thrown to the wolves

 

The King sends Alice to the Houses of Parliament, even though Alice has no idea what is in store for her.  She meets with a reporter who tries to get her life story and she subsequently meets with the dominant factions in the King’s Parliament.  Alice learns what it means to be a political animal and she undergoes an unexpected life changing transformation.  She escapes from the mayhem and ponders her own future. 

 

 

Chapter IX

Waxing and Waning

In which Alice makes a startling discovery

 

Alice stumbles across an unusual museum where she encounters the Queen.  Alice tries to make herself useful by sharing her limited knowledge of history with the Queen and the Queen finally recalls where she has seen Alice before.  Alice is introduced to the most marvellous creature that ever existed and she is left dumbfounded and confused by the experience. 

                   

 

Chapter X

Dressing for Dinner 

In which Alice is prepared for dinner

 

The Queen sends Alice to be dressed for the royal banquet.  Alice makes friends with one of the royal footmen who conducts her to the place where she will be prepared.  Alice drifts off to sleep and she has a vivid and surreal dream.  When she awakes she is sent into the garden where she meets a persuasive snail and several unusual gardeners.  The Rabbit arrives to escort Alice to the banquet and the two of them debate whether it is possible for them ever to get to their destination. 

 

 

Chapter XI

A Party for Alice

In which Alice is the guest of honour

 

Alice arrives at the royal banquet and meets the kitten again.  The King and Queen receive Alice and make her welcome.  The cake arrives, along with some unintended consequences and The Rat reappears to answer some searching questions by the King and Queen.  At last, Alice prepares to cut the cake …

 

 

Chapter  XII

Sneezing

In which Alice finds her way home

 

Alice’s attempts to cut the cake go awry and the company is reduced to fits of sneezing.  Alice crawls under the tea trolley to find the cake knife but she can only find the kitten, instead.  Alice starts sneezing violently and she wakes up back in her own bedroom where the kitten is waiting for her.  Alice tells her story to the kitten and the two of them fall asleep again in each other’s arms.
